The HPD in building services engineering provides a broad understanding of the variety of high-level roles available and skills needed for them.

There is an industry need for building services engineers with workplace experience and higher level qualifications for more advanced roles. Learners completing this qualification can fill this gap, bringing their years of practical experience with new and more advanced skills to bear.

Course Details

The HNC is an internationally recognised industry standard qualification that can enable successful students to progress their career within their chosen profession. The HNC qualification can also be used for progression to an HND or a university degree qualification (level 5 and level 6).

The Pearson Edexcel BTEC Level 4 HNC in Construction and the Built Environment provides a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the Building Services Engineering sector. The course is relevant to those wanting to progress to design or leadership positions and those who want to go on to degrees.

The course will cover: Design Principles and Application for Construction and the Built Environment, Applied Mathematics for Construction and the Built Environment, Health, Safety and Welfare for Construction and the Built Environment, Application of Scientific Principles to Building Services Engineering, Electricity and Lighting for Building Services Engineering, Energy Utilization and Efficiency for Building Services Engineering, Project Management for Building Services Engineering, Group Project in the Construction Industry.

Each unit is assessed using 2 to 4 assignments.  Some units may be assessed using an examination.  A pass, merit or distinction grade is available overall.  Students have the opportunity to improve their grade after submission before year end, in line with the college submission policy.

Location: PROCAT Basildon Campus.

Duration: 24 months

Study Format: 2 evenings per week.

Entry Requirements: Completion of Installation Electrician apprenticeship or industry experience to be assessed on an individual basis.
