Employer focused events
Our strong links with employers means that we are able to host a variety of inspirational activities and events at PROCAT that enable young people to engage directly with key individuals from the engineering and construction industries.
For example for the past three years we have held an event on 23rd June as part of the International Women in Engineering Day. This year, working with Thales, who develop advanced technological systems for aerospace, space, transportation, defence and security, we showcased the amazing career opportunities available to girls in this exciting industry. Young female students from schools in Essex and the Thames Gateway were taken around the rail academy at PROCAT which is sponsored by the likes of Thales, Bombardier, Eurostar, Virgin East Coast, Atkins and TfL.
The academy has its own full- sized functioning station platform which includes equipment donated by Thales. Here the students experienced first-hand a signalling project that Thales apprentices are working on. They met with female engineering graduates who talked about their career pathways and current job roles and, supported by PROCAT tutors, completed a range of advanced manufacturing activities.
