Whether it’s on domestic or commercial building sites, plumbing is a trade that will always be highly demanded and essential to the construction industry.

PROCAT courses start at Level 2 before progression onto an Advanced Apprenticeship.

Course Details

What you will study

You will learn in our fully equipped classrooms and workshops, studying the underpinning theory, before gaining the practical skills required to achieve professional plumbing and heating qualifications. Learners taking this qualification will be gaining the knowledge required to progress further within the domestic plumbing and gas heating sector.

The importance of maths and English in daily life is beyond question. Almost every job requires the ability to read, write and use numbers confidently – especially in Construction or Engineering where you will be pricing jobs, measuring and completing tasks to precision.

English and maths qualifications are an essential element of your Study Programme and Apprenticeship training.

Apprentices:

Grade 3 (D) or below you must study Functional Skills
Grade 4 (C) or above do not need Functional Skills

Study Programmes:

Grade 4 (C) or above students must study extended maths and English
Grade 3 (D) students must study GCSE maths and English

Self Study: 

PROCAT guidelines for self-study, meaning extra reading, researching and writing are as follows but of-course this is down to your own work ethic.

For a PASS:

Level 3: 1-2 hours per week studying at home/outside of college
Level 4: 3-4 hours per week studying at home/outside of college
Degree Apprenticeship: 5-6 hours per week studying at home/outside of college

Type of work

Depending on whether you work in homes, industrial or commercial locations, your work could involve installing water supplies, heating systems and drainage, finding faults in systems or equipment and repairing them, servicing gas and oil-fired central heating systems, installing and fixing domestic appliances and emergency call-outs.
