Encounters with Employers
The Gatsby Foundation in their ‘Good Career Guidance’ for schools emphasise the importance of ensuring that young people have encounters with employers:
‘Every pupil should have multiple opportunities to learn from employers about work, employment and the skills that are valued in the workplace.’
At PROCareer we know that employer contacts make a difference to the employment prospects of young adults as the process helps them to develop their knowledge and confidence and to make progress towards aspirational career goals.
As a college we operate as a Group Training Association (GTA) which means that we are led by employers to provide specialised apprenticeship and training services that directly meet their needs. With links to over 700 local and national employers we can support your students to:
- engage with employers;
- make informed career choices;
- recognise the skills and training they will gain, for example, as an apprentice;
- seize the opportunity to access the 6,700 new technical engineering jobs that will become available in Essex during the next five years, as well as the 4,000 new rail engineering jobs and 7,000 aviation jobs which are being created nationally.
